BSA 100 Year Lotería Celebration

For years, our Lotería has been one of those events that brings everyone together. Families, alumni, neighbors, parishioners, and friends all gather around the table for good food, great company, and a little friendly competition.

As Blessed Sacrament Academy celebrates 100 years this year, we wanted to do exactly that again.

This year isn’t about changing a tradition that’s already special. Our goal has simply been to make a few thoughtful updates so that even more people can be part of the celebration.

Because our Lotería continues to grow every year, we’ve moved the event to Saturday from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at VFW Post 9186, just five minutes from Blessed Sacrament Academy. The larger venue gives us more room for everyone while keeping the event close to home and in our South Side community.

And don’t worry…your favorite parts are staying exactly the same.

Your $25 ticket still gets you two Lotería playing cards and an afternoon full of laughs, prizes, and community. This year, your ticket will also include a $5 food voucher, which covers a traditional chalupa plate.

Food will be prepared by our friends at VFW Post 9186, another nonprofit organization that’s helping make this celebration possible. If you’d like to grab additional food or drinks from the concession stand, they’ll be available for purchase, with those proceeds helping support another local nonprofit. It’s a small change that allows us to continue supporting organizations that make our community stronger.

You’ll also notice something fun when you play.

We’ve created a special Centennial Lotería deck just for this year’s celebration. Don’t worry, it’s still the classic Lotería everyone knows. We’ve simply added a few Blessed Sacrament themed cards to celebrate our school, our history, and our community. Think of it as the same game with a little birthday surprise mixed in.

Since we’re celebrating 100 years, we’re also making this year’s prizes extra special. Expect bigger prizes, plenty of opportunities to win, and the same optional buy-in games that have always been part of the fun.

We’ll open the doors at 11:15 AM so everyone has time to find a table, visit with friends, enjoy lunch, and get settled before the games begin. Seats are first come, first served, so we encourage everyone to reserve their spot early.
