Our Biggest Lotería Yet, Same Tradition You Love
For years, our Lotería has been one of those events that brings everyone together. Families, alumni, neighbors, parishioners, and friends all gather around the table for good food, great company, and a little friendly competition.
As Blessed Sacrament Academy celebrates 100 years this year, we wanted to do exactly that again.
This year isn’t about changing a tradition that’s already special. Our goal has simply been to make a few thoughtful updates so that even more people can be part of the celebration.
Because our Lotería continues to grow every year, we’ve moved the event to Saturday from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at VFW Post 9186, just five minutes from Blessed Sacrament Academy. The larger venue gives us more room for everyone while keeping the event close to home and in our South Side community.
Your $25 ticket still includes two Lotería playing cards and an afternoon filled with fun, prizes, and community. There will be 12 normal games and 3 optionals!
New this year, your ticket also includes a $5 concession credit to use at the VFW kitchen. With your concession credit, you can enjoy one of several delicious meal options, including a chalupa plate (2 Chalupas), nachos, or a hot dog plate with chips. Additional menu items, such as fruit cups and beverages, will also be available for purchase.
Even better, 100% of all concession proceeds directly benefit the VFW Post 9186, another longtime nonprofit serving our South Side community. By enjoying a meal during the event, you’re supporting not one, but two local organizations dedicated to strengthening and serving our neighborhood.
**Your $5 concession credit may be applied toward any food or beverage purchase at the VFW kitchen. Additional purchases may be made separately.
You’ll also notice something fun when you play.
We’ve created a special Centennial Lotería deck just for this year’s celebration. Don’t worry, it’s still the classic Lotería everyone knows. We’ve simply added a few Blessed Sacrament themed cards to celebrate our school, our history, and our community. Think of it as the same game with a little birthday surprise mixed in.
Since we’re celebrating 100 years, we’re also making this year’s prizes extra special. Expect bigger prizes, plenty of opportunities to win, and the same optional buy-in games that have always been part of the fun.
We’ll open the doors at 11:15 AM so everyone has time to find a table, visit with friends, enjoy lunch, and get settled before the games begin. Seats are first come, first served, so we encourage everyone to reserve their spot early.
***Tickets will be held at Will Call for a quick and easy check-in. Simply provide your name upon arrival to receive your Lotería playing cards and your $5 concession credit to use at the VFW kitchen.
